FAQ
Common questions about wallets, billing and privacy.
Do I need to prepay or keep a balance with Roteo?
No. You keep stablecoins in your own wallet, and each request is paid from it onchain, over x402, the moment you make it. Roteo never holds your funds, and charges can never exceed your balance. See Pay-per-call billing.
Which chains and stablecoins can I use?
USDC on Base, Arbitrum or Solana, or USDG on Robinhood. Billing follows whichever chain holds your balance. See Billing chains.
Why is it cheaper than going direct?
Settling onchain leaves out the card processors and subscription margins built into list prices, and Roteo may source inference capacity at volume-based provider rates. See How it works.
Can I generate images and video too?
Yes, with the same key. Video is asynchronous: you submit a job, poll until it finishes and download the clip, and a failed job is free. See Images and Videos.
Is the response the real model output?
Yes. Model-generated content is never editorially rewritten. See How it works for what the gateway does adjust.
Do you store my prompts?
No. The API records nothing about your prompts or the model's responses. Usage is metered for billing, never the content.
What if a request briefly fails?
Where an eligible alternative is available, Roteo may retry or reroute it automatically. Failover is not guaranteed.
Can I earn by referring people?
Yes: 10% of everything the people you refer spend, on every model, for as long as they use Roteo. Earnings pay out automatically to your wallet in stablecoins, usually within minutes of crossing $0.25. See Referrals.
